Pacific Beach Surf Camp
( June 7 - Aug. 27 )
Surf camp is a great way to make the experience of learning to surf safe and enjoyable. Pacific Beach Surf Camp offers surf camps to kids ages 5 to 17 with a safe instructor to student ratio of 1:4 (or less). We have the only surf camp in San Diego where the pickup and drop off point is at the surf shop. Safety is our #1 priority at Pacific Beach Surf Camp!
We work closely with San Diego City Lifeguards. All of our instructors have the highest certifications available, and they are Lifeguard and CPR certified with a talent for teaching children. Our summer camps are structured to provide a fun and enriching setting for youth to build the self confidence necessary to develop them into true water-women and men.
Surf lessons have been taught since the early 1960’s at Pacific Beach Surf Shop, and in 1995 Randy Strunk, owner of Pacific Beach Surf Shop, pioneered surf camps with Mark Fitzgerald. Randy created a formalized training curriculum for surf instructors, and the quality of our instructors is unsurpassed. Our instructors range from educators, lifeguards, paramedics, and world travelers to second and third generation local surfers. With 47 years of experience, we pride ourselves on cultivating the best of the best when it comes to surf instructors.
Our advanced curriculum enables campers to learn everything there is to know about surfing. We are dedicated to teaching children the right way to surf through former world surfing champion, Shaun Tomson’s, “Surfer’s Code” which consists of 12 simple yet important lessons about riding through life. We are also committed partners with Surfrider Foundation. The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education. When kids are having fun, the learning experience builds confidence that will last a life time!
